Knights Suffer Fourth Straight Loss To Open Season

Klesin paces Knights with 10 kills

Madison, N.J. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team was dealt its fourth straight loss to open the season on Tuesday following an 11-25, 18-25, 18-25 road loss at FDU-Florham. Senior Ally Klesin (Glendale, N.Y.) led the Mount's offensive attack with 10 kills.
 
Klesin was the lone Knight to reach double-figures in kills, hitting .200 in the match. She closed out a strong all-around match with a pair of blocks and six digs for the Mount. Emily Mazzurco (Middletown, N.Y.) and Nicole Spinelli (Wantagh, N.Y.) supported the offensive attack with four kills apiece.
 
Junior Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.Y.) finished off the match with a pair of blocks and three kills with Klaire Wall (Point Pleasant, N.J.) and Danielle Kralik (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) producing the only two service aces of the match for the Mount.
 
Senior Kim Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) continued the strong start to her season with 22 assists for the Mount and lifted nine digs, while Madelyn Barberan (Fishkill, N.Y.) paced the team with 14 digs to go along with a kill.
 
FDU-Florham received a match-high 15 kills from Lauren Harris who hit .346 and added 10 digs. Katie Quinlan finished with 12 winners and hit .348, with Melissa Lehnert adding eight kills to the winning effort.
 
Kacie Ros led all players with 33 assists to go along with seven digs, with Rebecca Morse posting a match-high 16 digs for the Devils.
 
FDU-Florham finished the match hitting .356 as a team, while the Mount was held to a .107 effort. The Devils held a 4-2 edge in aces while total blocks in the contest were even at three apiece.
 
At 0-4 overall on the season, Mount Saint Mary returns to the court on Friday for the first day of the Hawks Invitational hosted by New Paltz. The Knights will tussle with Hamilton at 5:00 p.m. before taking on St. Lawrence at 7:00 p.m.
