O’Sullivan’s Hat Trick Sends Mount Saint Mary To Fourth Straight Win

Senior finds scoring column for first time in 2018

Riverdale, N.Y. – Senior Maeve O'Sullivan (Garden City Park, N.Y.) recorded a hat trick, scoring her first three goals of the season, as the Mount Saint Mary Women's Soccer team posted its fourth straight win with a 3-0 road triumph at the College of Mount Saint Vincent Tuesday afternoon.

O'Sullivan got the eventual game winner in the early going on Tuesday and added her second of the first half with just over 13 minutes left before halftime. Her first of the season came off a feed from Haley Murphy (Massapequa, N.Y.) at the 7:47 mark of the contest with her second tally of the game coming at the 31:42 mark.

Mount Saint Mary dominated the opening stanza, outshooting the Dolphins 14-2 and taking the only two corner kicks of the opening 45 minutes.

The Knights maintained the two goal advantage until the late stages of regulation time when O'Sullivan expanded it to three to complete the hat trick. Her third goal of the game came at the 82:56 mark of the match to close out the scoring.

Cassidy Rykowski (Sloatsburg, N.Y.) got the nod in goal for the Knights and posted the shutout after being forced to make just one save. Meaghan Cleary suffered the loss with six stops for Mount Saint Vincent.

Mount Saint Mary featured 10 different players with a shot on its way to a 23-6 advantage in the category overall and a 9-1 edge in shots on goal. Theresa Stinson (Troy, N.Y.) led the way with four shots, while O'Sullivan, Murphy and Alexa Franceshi (Red Hook, N.Y.) each finished with three attempts.
