Women's Soccer Runs Winning Streak To Six Games

Murphy nets two in win over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn

Newburgh, N.Y. –  Five different players scored for the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team as they cruised to a 6-0 victory against St. Joseph's-Brooklyn Wednesday evening. The win was the sixth straight for the Knights.

Julia DeSantis' (Islip, N.Y.) third goal of the season got the scoring going early when she buried one in the net in the third minute to put the Knights on top for good. Haley Murphy (Massapequa, N.Y.) potted her first two goals of the season and Kelly Platt also netted her first goal of the season.
 
Maeve O'Sullivan tallied her fourth goa of the season fellow senior and Claire Newman (Cromwell, Conn.) with her third of the year scored the other two goals for the Mount.

Brittany Bornstad (Linden, N.J.), Hannah Chinsky (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Miranda Fennessy (Monroe, N.Y.) each picked up an assist for the Mount. Bornstad increased her team lead in assists with five for the season.

The Knights dominated the game throughout by outshooting the Lady Bears, 49-1. They also held the shots on goal advantage by a count of 24-1. The corner kicks advantage of 10-0 went to the Knights as well.

Cassidy Rykowski (Sloatsburg, N.Y.) picked up her sixth victory of the season as she posted a shutout in goal. She only had to make one stop on the night.

Lauren Quesada made the start in net for the Bears, making seven saves on the night. Reem Shaban took over in goal in the second half and made eight saves for St. Joseph's-Brooklyn.

Wednesday's win moves the Mount to 9-4-1 overall for the season and 5-0 in Skyline Conference play. Next up for the Knights is Purchase College on Saturday at Kaplan Field. Kickoff with the Panthers is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
