Fred Stark (Hollis, N.Y.) recorded two assists and classmate
Joey Dolan (New Paltz, N.Y.) scored for the third straight game as the Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team scored an impressive 4-0 win over visiting Bard in its first home contest of the season.
Dolan, who has scored in each of the first three games of the season, collected his team leading third tally of the year in the 24
th minute when he received a pass from
Nick Ciani (Sussex, N.J.) and ripped a shot into the top left corner for the early 1-0 lead.
The Knights' advantage doubled just under two minutes later when
Bereket Watts (Southold, N.Y.) found the back of the net for the first time in 2017. Stark headed a pass from Dolan past the Bard keeper where Watts was there to tap in the Mount's second goal of night at 25:20.
Matt Fuge (Avon, Conn.) gave Mount Saint Mary a 3-0 halftime lead with just over five minutes left in the opening stanza when he finished off Stark's second assist of the half. He took the pass inside the box and scored to the far post at 39:26 to close out the first half scoring.
The Knights outshot Bard 7-4 in the opening half and took three of the four corner kicks in the half. Bard keeper, Taylor Bond, finished the first half with the only save for the Raptors.
Mount Saint Mary got its fourth goal in the 68
th minute when senior
Joseph Sadofsky (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) potted his first goal of the season. He picked up a free ball and tucked a shot inside the right post to give the Knights their season-high fourth goal in a game.
Five different Knights finished with multiple shots in the game, led by three each from Stark, Dolan and Watts. Dolan leads the team with seven points through the season's first three games, while Stark paces the team with three helpers.
Tyler Rapp (East Berne, N.Y.) earned his second win of the season without having to make a save, while
Thomas Trainor (Patterson, N.Y.) stopped a single shot in the second half in his first appearance of the season. Bond rounded out the night with four stops for the Raptors.
Overall, Mount Saint Mary held the advantage on the night in shots 14-7, shots on goal 8-2 and corner kicks 5-2.
At 2-1 overall on the season, Mount Saint Mary returns to action on Saturday when they take on Plattsburgh State as part of the Best Western Plus Cardinal Classic. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
