Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team set a new program standard for goals in a game and won its third straight contest on Sunday in a 13-0 non-conference win over Pratt. Three Knights;
Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.),
Jessica Lanning (Hicksville, N.Y.) and
Bridget McKeever (Wallkill, N.Y.) posted hat tricks in the win.
The Knights put the game away early with four first half goals against the Connoneers. Lanning tallied the deciding goal in the in the sixth minute before
Alexa Franceschi (Red Hook, N.Y.) potted her first career goal in the 25
th minute off a feed from McKeever.
McKeever finished off the scoring in the half with consecutive goals just under two minutes apart to send the Mount into the break with a commanding four goal lead.
Mount Saint Mary went on to explode for nine more tallies after halftime, with Riley scoring three times. Lanning and
Allison Jones (Merrick, N.Y.) each scored twice after the break as the Mount outshot Pratt 27-1 in the second stanza.
The Knights finished with six different goal scorers in the game and 10 different players with at least one point. Franceschi,
Maeve Ward (Warwick, N.Y.) and
Zoe Jabs (Plymouth, Conn.) each recorded their first career points in the win.
McKeever moved into the team lead in goals with 10 and points with 26 after scoring three times and assisting on two other goals. Riley also finished with three goals and two helpers with
Nicolette Wurglics (Glendale, N.Y.) and
Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, N.Y.) each assisting on a pair of tallies.
Riley and
Cassidy Rykowski (Suffern, N.Y.) combined on the team's third shutout of the season with each keeper making a single save. Morgan Holub made three first have saves in the opening period for Pratt, with Carly Klein making nine saves after halftime.
Mount Saint Mary finished the game with the advantage in overall shot 36-2, shots on goal 25-2 and corner kicks 7-1.
Sunday's win moves Mount Saint Mary to 6-2-1 overall on the season. Next up for the Knights is non-conference home tilt with John Jay on September 28. Kick-off with the Bloodhounds is set for 7:00 p.m.
