Newburgh, N.Y. – Playing its second home game of the season and opening a four game home stand and Skyline Conference play, the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team eased to an 11-1 win over Yeshiva on Tuesday night. Seven different players scored a goal in the win, including a hat trick from
Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, N.Y.).
The Knights didn't open the scoring until the 16
th minute on Tuesday, but went on to tally four times before halftime, including three times in a nearly 10 minute stretch. Ribadeneyra,
Theresa Stinson (Troy, N.Y.) and
Bridget McKeever (Wallkill, N.Y.) scored to give the Mount a 3-0 lead with nearly 20 minutes left before the intermission.
After Gabrielle Aboudi tallied for Yeshiva to being the Maccabees to within 3-1, freshman
Haley Murphy (Massapequa, N.Y.) scored just under five minutes later to send Mount Saint Mary into halftime with a three goal cushion.
Mount Saint Mary got off 27 shots in the opening 45 minutes and took all three corner kicks awarded in the first half. A pair of Yeshiva keepers combined to make eight saves prior to the break.
The Mount erupted in the second half with seven more tallies, including two each from Ribadeneyra and
Allison Jones (Merrick, N.Y.). Senior
Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) and junior
Taylor Grella (Glen Cove, N.Y.) each scored their first goals of the season in the second stanza, while McKeever potted her second of the game in the 63
rd minute.
With her hat trick, Ribadeneyra moved her team lead in goals to eight and points to 19. McKeever closed out a five point night with two goals and a helper, moving into the team lead in assists with four and raising her point total to 16. Stinson and Jones stand in a tie for third on the team in goals with three, with Stinson picking up her first game winning goal of the season.
In addition to finding the scoring column in the game, Riley earned the win in goal without making a save.
Cassidy Rykowski (Suffern, N.Y.) saw her third action of the season, playing just over 40 minutes for the Knights. Rivka Lindenblatt made seven stops in 49 minutes for the Macs, while Gabriella Chutter stopped five shots in 41 minutes of work.
Mount Saint Mary dominated in each category on Tuesday, holding the advantage in shots 44-1, shots on goal 23-1 and corner kicks 8-0.
At 4-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in Skyline Conference play, the Knights continue their season long home stand on Saturday with a non-conference game against Neumann. Kick-off at Kaplan Field with the visiting Knights is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
