Cobleskill Edges Mount Saint Mary, 2-1

Dolan tallies sixth goal in first half

Newburgh, N.Y. – Junior Joey Dolan (New Paltz, N.Y.) scored his sixth goal of the season on Friday night, but visiting Cobleskill got a goal early in the second half and the game winner with 65 seconds left in regulation time to earn a 2-1 win at Kaplan Field on Friday night.
 
Dolan scored for the sixth time in seven games for the Mount on Friday, giving the Knights a 1-0 lead in the late stages of the first half. He tallied off a free kick started by Connor Lynch (Clifton Park, N.Y.) near midfield for the one goal advantage at 37:28.
 
In a tightly contested first period, the Mount doubled up Cobleskill in shots 6-3and took four of the five corner kicks in the opening 45 minutes. Each keeper made a pair of saves before halftime.
 
Coming out of the break, Cobleskill leveled the game at 1-1 2:45 into the second half on the first of two goals on the night from Khadim Diba. He finished off a pass from David Vosatka at 47:45 to even the game at a goal apiece.
 
The game remained tied until the closing minutes when Diba notched his second of the game with 1:05 left in the second half. Emile Vwaza found Diba in the box and he tucked a shot inside the far post for the deciding goal in the game.
 
Cobleskill outshot Mount Saint Mary 4-2 in the second half and finished the tilt with a 6-4 edge in shots on goal. Corner kicks went to the Knights on Friday, 5-1.
 
Freshman Tyler Rapp (East Berne, N.Y.) finished the night with four stops for the Knights in the hard luck loss, while Cobleskill keeper, Sam Sherbacow, stopped three shots in the victory.
 
At 3-4 overall on the season, Mount Saint Mary returns to action on Monday at Rutgers-Newark. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
