Ribadeneyra Nets Two On Senior Day

Knights win seventh straight game

Newburgh, N.Y. – Senior Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, N.Y.) scored two goals on Saturday afternoon as the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team moved to 7-0 at home and won its seventh straight contest overall with a 2-0 Skyline Conference win over St. Joseph's-L.I. on Senior Day.

Ribadeneyra got the scoring started in the 29th minute when she finished off a cross from Alexa Franceschi (Red Hook, N.Y.) for the eventual game winning goal. The tally at the 28:35 mark of the contest was the only goal of the opening 45 minutes.

Mount Saint Mary took seven of the nine shots in the opening 45 minutes with each team taking one corner kick. Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) made a pair of first half saves, while Juliana Cintron-Leonardo stopped three Mount Saint Mary attempts prior to halftime.

Ribadeneyra doubled the Knights' lead just over three minutes into the second half with her 11th goal of the season. She banged home a shot off of Cintron-Leonardo on a pass from Nicolette Wurglics (Glendale, N.Y.) at 48:01 to close out the scoring in the game.

Ribadeneyra became the second player on the team to reach double-figures in goals on the season and matched the team-high in points with 32 following her third multiple goal game of the season. Her first tally of the day accounted for her team leading fourth game winning goal of the season.

Wurglics picked up her fourth assist of the season, moving her into a tie for third on the team in the category, with Franceschi recording her first career assist on the Mount's opening goal of the day.

Riley recorded her fourth shutout of the season in the win, making three saves for the Knights. She holds an .818 save percentage and a 0.97 goals against average in 12 games played in 2017.

Mount Saint Mary allowed only three shots after halftime on Saturday and finished the day with a 17-5 advantage in the game, including a 9-3 edge in shots on goal. St. Joseph's rounded out the day with a slim 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
