Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, N.Y.) scored three goals and totaled seven points and freshman
Haley Murphy (Massapequa, N.Y.) scored a pair of goals as the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team rolled to its eighth straight win with a 9-1 road victory at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn.
After falling behind for the first time since September 16 and allowing a goal for the first time since September 23, the Knights ripped off nine straight goals to secure its fifth league win of the season.
Deserae Sequeira scored for the Lady Bears in the 16
th minute to put the Mount in an early 1-0 hole, but the Knights quickly tied the score just over four minutes later with Ribadeneyra's first of the game and got the eventual game winning goal in the 22
nd minute when
Bridget McKeever (Wallkill, N.Y.) finished off a feed from Ribadeneyra for her 13
th goal of the season.
The Knights went on to score four more times prior to halftime to carry a commanding 6-1 lead into the intermission. Ribadeneyra scored two more times and Murphy potted both of her goals, including one with two seconds left in the opening frame.
Coming out of halftime, the Mount found the back of the net three more times on goals from
Nicole Cavallo (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.),
Alexa Franceschi (Red Hook, N.Y.) and
Maeve O'Sullivan (Garden City Park, N.Y.). Freshman
Gina Rivera (Washingtonville, N.Y.) picked up her first career point with an assist on the Cavallo goal in the 52
nd minute.
Ribadeneyra moved into first on the team in goals with 14, assists with 11 and points with 39 and into a tie for second in the conference in goals and second place points. McKeever potted her 13
th goal and stands with 34 points with Murhpy, Franceschi and O'Sullivan all scoring their fourth goals of the season.
Senior
Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) and freshman
Cassidy Rykowski (Suffern, N.Y.) split the game in goal without having to make a save in the game, with Lauren Quesada stopping 13 shots for St. Joseph's-Brooklyn.
Mount Saint Mary dominated each statistical category in the game, holding the advantage in shots 41-1, shots on goal 22-1 and corner kicks 11-2.
At 11-2-1 overall on the season and a perfect 5-0-0 in league play, the Knights continue conference play on Saturday afternoon at Purchase. Kick-off with the Panthers is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
