Men’s Soccer Hosts Purchase On Senior Night

Knights can clinch top seed in conference championship

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team finishes off the 2017 regular season on Wednesday night against Purchase on Senior Night. Kick-off with the Panthers is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. with Live Stats available for those who cannot attend.
 
At A Glance: The Knights enter Wednesday's contest with a 9-7 overall record and a 7-1 mark in conference play. With a win or a draw on Wednesday against the Panthers, the Mount can sure up the top seed in the upcoming Skyline Conference Championship.
 
Junior Joey Dolan (New Paltz, N.Y.) is putting together a historic season for the Knights, leading the team with 17 goals, including seven game winners, and 35 points. He set the program's all-time record in goals and is the only player in program history to reach 30 goals in a career and with a hat trick on Saturday joined Matt Garcia (2013) as the only two players in program history to score as many as 17 goals in a season.
 
Dolan enters Wednesday as the Skyline Conference leader in goals and game winning goals and ranks second, just one point off the league lead, in points.
 
Fred Stark (Hollis, N.Y.) is tops on the team in assists with four heading into the final regular season game and is second on the team with eight points. Matt Fuge (Avon, Conn.) is second on the squad with three goals, with Stark, Joseph Sadofsky (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) and Bereket Watts (Southold, N.Y.) all entering Wednesday's tilt with a pair of markers.
 
The Mount has seen four keepers see action in 2017, with Jakup Myrtja (Newburgh, N.Y.) and Tyler Rapp (East Berne, N.Y.) seeing the bulk of action. Myrtja has started nine games and made 37 saves, while Rapp has started seven contests and leads the team with four shutouts, an .824 save percentage and a 0.75 goals against average.
 
Last Time Out: After getting outshot in the first half 11-1, the Mount erupted for four goals in the second stanza to come away with a key 4-0 Skyline Conference win at St. Joseph's-L.I. on Saturday. Dolan scored three times and Watts found the back of the net for the second time this season. Rapp picked up his fourth shutout of the season with a career-high eight saves in goal.
 
Previewing The Panthers: Purchase comes to towns sporting a 7-7-2 overall record and a 4-2-2 mark against league rivals. The Panthers' last four games and five of the last six have gone past regulation time, including a 2-1 double overtime triumph at Yeshiva on October 20.
 
Kayode Tyler and Rob Cal are each tied for the team lead in goals with six and points with 13. Oliver Dubreus, who scored the golden goal against Yeshiva, enters the regular season finale with a team best three assists on the season.
 
Jordan Meade has played 1,064:34 of a possible 1511:35 in goal for the Panthers and has produced four shutouts, 101 saves, a .918 save percentage and a 0.76 goals against average. He leads the Skyline Conference in overall saves, save percentage and goals against average entering Wednesday.
 
Last Meeting: The two teams last met on October 26, 2016, with the Mount posting a 7-1 road win. Stark recorded a hat trick in the victory, with Dolan adding a goal and an assist and Sadofsky finishing with four points on a goal and a pair of helpers.
 
What's Next: The Skyline Conference Championship begins on October 28 with seeds, matchups and game times to be announced at the conclusion of play tonight.
