New York, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team picked up its third straight win against a league rival on Tuesday with a 25-10, 25-11, 25-12 road win at Yeshiva. Senior
Megan Williams (Glenmont, N.Y.) led the offensive attack with nine kills, while freshman
Klaire Wall (Point Pleasant, N.J.) lifted a career-high nine digs.
The Knights took control of the match early, scoring 11 of the first 12 points of the contest. The Mount limited Yeshiva to just one kill in the opening frame and a -.160 attack percentage. The Knights went on to score seven of the final eight points, led by a pair of kills from Williams to open a 1-0 lead.
The Mount broke a 6-6 tie in the middle stanza with a three point run and pulled away with an 11-1 run to finish off the set. Wall sparked the closing run with four service aces for the Knights.
After trailing 11-9 in the third set, Mount Saint Mary scored 16 of the final 17 points to secure the straight set victory. Freshman
Renee Hydo (Bethpage, N.Y.) keyed the third set run with four aces for the Knights.
Williams hit .533 in the match, adding a block and four digs to her nine kills.
Danielle Kralik (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) put away seven kills to go along with seven digs and four aces, while
Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.J.) produced five kills and a block.
The Knights finished just one ace shy of their season-high of 21 and showed eight players with at least one ace. Hydo produced six aces for the Knights to go along with four kills, while Wall posted four for the Mount.
Wall led the Mount in digs on the night, while
Lauren LeGere (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) contributed eight.
Kim Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) finished up with a match-high 21 assists to go along with four digs and a kill.
Overall on the night, Mount Saint Mary held the edge in kills 35-8 and service aces 20-2, while total team blocks in the contest were even at 1-1.
At 12-17 overall on the season and 5-3 in conference play, the Knights will finish off the non-conference slate on Wednesday at Bard. Match time with the Raptors is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
