Joey Dolan (New Paltz, N.Y.) scored his team leading sixth game winning goal and set the career goals record at Mount Saint Mary College with his 29
th tally as the Knights went on the road and came away with a 2-0 Skyline Conference win at Farmingdale State on Saturday.
Dolan broke a scoreless tie in the 58
th minute on Saturday with his sixth game winning goal of the season.
Fred Stark (Hollis, N.Y.) headed a free-kick started by
Jared Whitford (Melrose, N.Y.) over to Dolan who buried his team leading 13
th goal of the season at the 57:47 mark of the contest.
Dolan's 29 goals have come in 52 career games and break the previous record of 28 tallies held by Matt Garcia. Garcia held the school record after scoring a single season record 17 goals in 2013 and 11 more as a senior in 2014. Dolan stands just four markers shy of matching the single season mark.
Just under six minutes after Dolan got the Knights on the board, classmate
Matt Fuge (Avon, Conn.) doubled the Knights' lead with his third marker of the campaign. He collected a rebound and buried the insurance tally at 63:34.
In addition to Dolan's career record goal, Stark moved into first place on the team in assists and Fuge moved into second on the squad in goals. The trio accounted for 11 of the team's 18 shots in Saturday's victory. Whitford's assist was his first career point in his 33
rd career contest.
Freshman
Tyler Rapp (East Berne, N.Y.) picked up his team leading third shutout of the season on Saturday, making a single save in his sixth win of the year. He lowered his goals against average to 0.83 and raised his save percentage to .769.
For the game, Mount Saint Mary controlled shots 18-5 overall and 9-1 in shots on goal, while corner kicks in the game were even at 4-4.
Saturday's win moves Mount Saint Mary to 8-6-0 overall on the season and to 6-1-0 in Skyline Conference play. Next up for the Knights is a home date with nationally ranked Amherst on Wednesday night. Kick-off at Kaplan Field is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
