At A Glance: The Knights are coming off an 84-35 home victory over Purchase on Wednesday in which they shot 52.9-percent overall despite going 2-for-17 from three-point range. Junior
Jessica Rini (Seaford, N.Y.) poured in a career-high 24 points on 12-for-15 shooting and closed out a double-double with 11 rebounds.
Kayla Cleare (West Hempstead, N.Y.) also produced a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while
Maite Gritsko (Milford, Conn.) handed out a career-high six assists.
Rini is the team leader in scoring heading into Saturday's contest and is good for 11.9 points per game while shooting 48.4-percent from the floor. Cleare is averaging a double-double for the Knights, scoring 10.5 points per game and collecting a team-high 10.3 rebounds per contest.
Sophomore
Megan Kerutis (Merrimack, N.H.) leads the way in assists with 2.4 per outing, while
Bridget Kelly (Farmington, Conn.) has swiped a team best 26 steals and is also averaging 7.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Freshman
Jordyn Hellpap (Hackensack, N.J.) paces the Knights from distance with 26 three-point field goals.
Heading into the weekend, Mount Saint Mary leads the Skyline Conference in scoring offense (73.5) and scoring defense (46.8) and ranks second in the league in field goal percentage defense (29.9). Nationally, the Knights rank second in field goal percentage defense, fifth in rebounding margin and sixth in scoring defense.
Scouting St. Joseph's: The Golden Eagles stand at 5-13 overall and 4-7 in league play, dropping each of their last two outings, including a 70-28 road loss at Farmingdale State on Wednesday. St. Joseph's was held to 16.1-percent shooting in the game and turned the ball over 23 times leading to 32 Farmingdale State points.
Andrea Iavarone paces the Golden Eagles and the Skyline Conference in scoring with 18.3 points per game and also leads the way in rebounds with just under 12 per outing. Jackie Zizzo is good for 12.1 points per contest for the Golden Eagles and is connecting on better than three triples per game.
St. Joseph's averages 54.6 points per game, which is tied for eighth in the conference and allows 65.8 points per game for scoring margin that ranks eight in the league.
Last Meeting: The two teams hooked up at the Kaplan Center on December 3 and the Knights came away with a 70-40 triumph. The Mount shot 41.7-percent for the game and was led by 12 points from Kerutis. The Mount turned St. Joseph's over 19 times leading to 27 points in the victory.
What's Next: Following Saturday's tilt in Patchogue, the Knights will head up the Hudson for a non-conference onctest at New Paltz Tuesday night. Tip-off with the Hawks is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
