Trio Of Knights Score Two Goals In Skyline Victory At Yeshiva

Knights collect second straight league win on Sunday

New York, N.Y. – Emily Scheuer (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Maeve O'Sullivan (Garden City Park, N.Y.) scored two goals for the second straight game and sophomore Jackie Davis (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) added two tallies as the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team cruised to a 10-0 road Skyline Conference win at Yeshiva on Sunday afternoon.

The Knights opened the game up early on Sunday, scoring three times inside the first six minutes of the contest. O'Sullivan picked up the game winner in the third minute when she converted a breakaway started by Hannah Pascual (Freeport, N.Y.).

The Knights' lead grew by a goal two minutes later when Allison Jones (Merrick, N.Y.) found the back of the net and a minute later, Pascual picked up her second goal of the season when she finished off a breakaway of her own started by Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, N.Y.).

Scheuer scored her first goal of the game in the 13th minute for the Knights and added her second of the game two minutes later. Bridget McKeever (Wallkill, N.Y.), Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) and O'Sullivan all added goals in the final 23 minutes of the first half to give the Mount an 8-0 halftime advantage.

Mount Saint Mary took 31 shots in the opening 45 minutes on Sunday and took six corner kicks. Yeshiva goalkeeper, Gabriella Chutter, was forced to make 16 saves in the first half.

The only two goals of the second half were scored by Davis who scored 10 minutes apart off of assist from Allison Jones in the 51st minute and Theresa Stinson (Troy, N.Y.) in the 61st minute.

After being held to four goals over its first six games, the Mount has outscored its first two league opponents 19-0. With three assists on Sunday, Ribadeneyra now has a team-high eight on the season, while O'Sullivan and Scheuer have moved into a tie for the team lead in goals with four. The Mount now has seven players with at least two goals on the season.

Riley earned the win in goal to go along with her goal, playing 17 minutes without having to make a save. Freshman Molly Jensen (Bayport, N.Y.) appeared in her second straight game and played a career-high 53 minutes.

Sunday's win pushes Mount Saint Mary to 3-5 overall on the season and to 2-0 in conference action. The Knights will return to play on Wednesday when they travel to Sage. Kick-off with the Gators is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
