Men’s Soccer Falls To King’s To Close Out Potsdam College Cup

Biscone makes season-high five saves

Potsdam, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team suffered its fourth straight loss on Sunday afternoon following a 2-0 loss to King's (Pa.) in the consolation game of the Potsdam College Cup. Senior goalkeeper Tyler Biscone (Garden City, N.Y.) finished the day with a season-high five saves.

King's got on the board early with the eventual game winning goal in the seventh minute. Chris Galeano tallied for the second team of the season at the 6:37 mark of the contest when he took a pass from Steven Valencia and worked his way around Biscone for an early 1-0 advantage.

The Galeano tally was the only marker of the first half, with the Knights getting outshot 7-4 in the initial 45 minutes.  Biscone finished the opening period with one save for the Knights.

The Knights stayed with a goal until the 62nd minute when King's got an insurance tally from Brian Fenster. His unassisted tally gave the Monarchs a two goal lead at the 61:23 mark of the contest.

Joey Dolan (New Paltz, N.Y.) led the Mount with three shots in the game, with Eric Hayes (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) and Joseph Sadofsky (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) each adding a pair of attempts.

Biscone made four saves after halftime on Sunday to finish with a season-high in the category. He has made 17 stops on the season in just shy of 430 minutes of work. Owen Geedey earned the win in goal for King's with three stops.

King's closed the game with an 18-11 edge in shots, including a 7-4 edge in shots on goal. The Monarchs took all three corner kicks in the game, with all three coming before halftime.

Sunday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 1-4 overall on the season. The Knights will open a three game home stand on Wednesday when they host Rutgers-Newark. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
