Offense Erupts In Non-Conference Win At Albertus Magnus

Huvane records three hits, drives in three runs

New Haven, Conn. – The Mount Saint Mary College Baseball team posted its third straight win and its second win of the season over Albertus Magnus on Wednesday night with an impressive 12-1 win over the Falcons. Freshman Tom Huvane (Eastchester, N.Y.) led the offensive attack with three hits, while senior Kristopher Fragomeni (Beacon, N.Y.) connected on his second home run of the season.
 
The Knights opened a quick lead on Wednesday, plating six runs in the top of the first inning. After being held off the board in the second and third frames, Mount Saint Mary opened a 9-0 with three more runs in the fourth and tacked on a single run in the fifth and two more in the seventh to close out the win.
 
Mount Saint Mary outhit Albertus Magnus 9-5 in the contest, with Huvane going 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and three RBI. Huvane is the team leader in doubles with six and moved into second place in RBI with 13 on the season.
 
Fragomeni rounded out the win 2-for-4 with his second round tripped of the year and scored two runs. Jimmy Papineau (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.), Blake Keenan (Fishkill, N.Y.) and Louie DeAngelis (Brooklyn, N.Y.) all scored twice for the Knights in the victory, while Rob Peccerillo (Staten Island, N.Y.) drove in three runs.
 
Keenan picked up the win for the Knights, working two scoreless innings in his third start of the season. Joseph Pillitteri (Wallkill, N.Y.), Ryan Turton (Westbury, N.Y.), Christian Spano (Mahopac, N.Y.), Nick Peterson (Stormville, N.Y.), James McCleary (Floral Park, N.Y.) and Stephan Sookdeo (Carmel, N.Y.) all also had scoreless outings against the Falcons.
 
Wednesday's win moves Mount Saint Mary to 8-16 overall on the season. The Knights will look to extend their three game winning streak on Saturday when they return to league play at Old Westbury. First pitch with the Panthers is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
