Men’s Basketball Falls On The Road At Farmingdale State

Wolff leads the way with 16 points

Farmingdale, N.Y. – Sophomore Daniel Wolff (Holtsville, N.Y.) led two players in double-figures with a game-high 16 points, but the Mount Saint Mary Men's Basketball team suffered its third straight loss, a 71-54 defeat on the road at Farmingdale State.
 
Mount Saint Mary used a quick 6-0 run capped by a Wolff three-pointer in the early going on Saturday to open a 10-4 lead with 15:22 left in the opening stanza. Farmingdale State would climb back to within a point with 7:08 left in the half, but Mount Saint Mary would maintain the advantage until a Trey Kinard triple pushed the Rams in front 24-23 with just over four minutes left before halftime.
 
The Knights would retake a two point lead on another three-pointer from Wolff with 2:12 left in the half, before an Eddie Kinloch bucket closed the scoring in the half with 37 seconds left and sent the Rams to the locker room with a slim 30-28 lead.
 
The Mount shot just shy of 37-percent in the first half, while the Rams converted at a 42.9-percent clip before halftime. Wolff knocked in two of the team's three triples before the break and joined T.J. Patsalos with eight first half points.
 
The Rams used a Jarred Marrow bucket and a triple from Matthew Graham to pull in front by seven points early in the second half, before the Mount responded with a 9-0 run, which included three-pointers from Wolff, Jason Oder (Levittown, N.Y.) and Gerard Nocera (Holmdel, N.J.) to move in front 37-35 just under four minutes into the second half.
 
The game would remain inside of two possessions over the next six minutes, with the Knights taking their final lead, 42-41, on an Austin Stewart (New Paltz, N.Y.) free-throw with 11:49 left in regulation time.
 
Farmingdale State would retake the lead on a George Rifenstahl jumper as part of a 14-1 run to open a 55-43 lead with 7:05 left to play. The Knights would pull to within nine points three times in the final seven minutes, before the Rams open the game-high and final 17 point advantage with 16 seconds left in the contest.
 
The Rams shot an even 50-percent after halftime and held Mount Saint Mary to 9-for-33 shooting. Rifenstahl led all players after halftime with 12 second half points, going 5-for-7 from the floor.
 
Wolff finished the game 6-for-13 from the floor and 4-for-9 from three-point range, adding eight rebounds and two blocks. Patsalos chipped in with 11 points and eight boards for the Knights.
 
Nocera contributed nine points on Saturday, while sophomore Tyler McDine (Suffern, N.Y.) handed out five assists.
 
The Rams showed four players in double-figures, with Riefenstahl leading the way with 14 points to go along with a game-high nine rebounds. Graham rounded out a solid day with 11 points and five assists, with Liam Monaghan pacing all players with eight helpers in the game.
 
Mount Saint Mary finished the game shooting 31.7-percent in the game, including a 7-for-27 effort from three-point range. The Knights were outscored 40-22 in the paint on the day.
 
Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 7-14 overall and to 5-11 against league rivals. The Knights will close out a four game road swing on Thursday at Sarah Lawrence. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
