Men’s Soccer Opens Skyline Conference Championship Against Sage Wednesday Night

Knights enter play 10-1-1 in last 12 games

Newburgh, N.Y. – Following a First Round bye, the Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team will open play in the 2016 Skyline Conference Championship on Wednesday night at home against Sage. Kick-off at Kaplan Field is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with Live Stats available for those who are unable to attend the game.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary enters Wednesday's game with an 11-6-1 overall record and finished the conference schedule at 10-1, earning the second seed in the conference championship. The Knights are 10-1-1 in their last 12 games and are coming off a 7-1 win at Purchase in the regular season finale.
 
Fred Stark (Hollis, N.Y.) registered a hat trick against the Panthers, while fellow sophomore Joey Dolan (New Paltz, N.Y.) potted his team leading 11th goal of the season. In all, the Knights had seven players with at least one point, including Eric Hayes (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) who totaled two assists and Joseph Sadofsky (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) who recorded four points on a goal and two helpers.
 
Senior Tyler Biscone (Garden City, N.Y.) picked up the win with a single save in just over 82 minutes of action for the Knights.
 
Through the regular season, Dolan leads the Knights in goals (11) and points (26) and ranks fourth in the conference in goals and in a tie for fourth in the league in points. Hayes leads the way with seven assists, while Stark is second on the team in tallies (5) and tied for second with Bereket Watts (Southold, N.Y.) in points with 11.
 
Biscone has put together a strong senior season in goal for the Mount, winning each of the team's 11 games while making 64 saves. He leads the conference in shutouts with seven and holds a 1.16 goals against average and a .759 save percentage.
 
Scouting Sage: Sage enters Wednesday's action at 7-7-4 overall and earned the sixth seed in the championship with a 5-5-1 conference mark. The Gators advanced to the semifinal round after drawing Old Westbury 1-1 on Saturday and advancing past the Panthers 4-3 on penalty kicks.
 
River Seybolt scored the Gators' lone goal in the game in the 48th minute, before Old Westbury tied the score just under a minute later. In the shootout, Sage took advantage of two Old Westbury misses to move on.
 
Seybolt leads the team in scoring heading into Wednesday with 15 markers and 32 points. He ranks second in the conference in goals and tied for second in the league in points. Paul Reynoso and Kevin Saar are tied for the team lead in assists with four and each player has added a goal for six points.
 
Caelan Kohut has played 1,014:17 in goal for the Gators and made 44 saves, but Mike Chiaravalloti has started the last six contests and holds a 0.92 goals against average and a .774 save percentage while stopping 24 shots.
 
Recent History: The Knights and Gators have met eight times since the start of the 2010 season, with the Mount holding a 3-1-4 record, including a 1-0 win earlier this season. Dolan scored the only goal of the 2016 matchup on September 20 and Biscone made five saves to earn one of his seven shutouts on the season.
 
Championship History: Mount Saint Mary has qualified for the conference championship in five of the last six seasons and holds a 6-5-1 record in the event since the start of the 2007 season. The Knights advanced to the championship game in both 2012 and 2013, claiming the conference crown and the league's bid into the NCAA Tournament in 2013 with a 2-1 win over Farmingdale State.
 
What's Next: The winner of Wednesday's game will advance to the championship game set for Saturday at a location and time to be determined.
