Newburgh, N.Y. – Jonathan Schefer (Greenlawn, N.Y.) scored for the second straight game and
Fred Stark (Hollis, N.Y.) added an insurance tally in the second half as the Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team ran its winning streak to six games and remained unblemished in conference play with a 2-0 home win over Farmingdale State on Friday night.
Â
Schefer scored his second straight game winning goal on Friday in the early going to jumpstart the Knights. He buried a shot from the right wing in the eighth minute to give the Mount the early one goal advantage.
Â
The early goal would be the only score of the opening 45 minutes on Friday as the Knights carried a 5-3 advantage in shots and the one goal edge into the intermission. Corner kicks prior to halftime were even at 1-1.
Â
The Knights doubled their advantage with just under 15 minutes in regulation when Stark converted his second goal of the season. He finished off
Eric Hayes' (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) team leading fifth assist of the season at 77:22 to close out the scoring in the game.
Â
Senior
Tyler Biscone (Garden City, N.Y.) posted his fourth shutout of the season on Friday, making four saves in the game. Farmingdale State keeper, Lucas Mallia, stopped three shots for the Rams.
Â
Mount Saint Mary finished the night with a 13-7 advantage in overall shots and a slim 5-4 edge in shots on goal. Sophomore
Joey Dolan (New Paltz, N.Y.) led the team with four attempts, while Schefer and Stark combined for five shots in the game.
