Joey Dolan (New Paltz, N.Y.) scored twice and classmate
Matt Fuge (Avon, Conn.) recorded an assist as the Knights traveled to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn and picked up a 2-0 road Skyline Conference win over the Bears. The win, the Mount's seventh straight, matches the program's longest win streak in history.
Both of the Mount's goals on Sunday came inside an eight minute stretch in the middle stages of the first half. Dolan scored his second game winning goal of the season in the 25
th minute when he banged home a rebound of Fuge's initial shot. The tally was Dolan's seventh of the season.
Dolan's eight goal of the season came at the 31:24 mark of the contest when he converted a penalty kick to give the Knights a two goal advantage. The penalty kick goal was the second for Dolan in as many attempts in 2016 and gave him his team leading eighth goal of the season.
The Knights finished the first half outshooting the Bears 8-7 and took three of the four corner kicks in the period. Senior
Tyler Biscone (Garden City, N.Y.) finished the first half with three saves for the Knights.
St. Joseph's got off eight shots after halftime on Sunday and forced Biscone to make two more saves, but the senior was up to the task in his third straight shutout and fifth blanking of the season. He lowered his goals against average to 1.27 and raised his save percentage to .742 with Sunday's effort.
Dolan moved his team lead in points to 19 and Fuge moved into a tie for third on the team in assists with two following the helper on the game winning goal Sunday.
Matthew Minniter (Mahopac, N.Y.) led the Mount with four shots in the game, with Dolan and
Jonathan Schefer (Greenlawn, N.Y.) each recording three attempts.
St. Joseph's outshot the Mount overall 15-13 in the game, while the Knights finished with a 10-5 edge in shots on goal. Corner kicks in the game were even at 5-5.
Sunday's victory pushes Mount Saint Mary to 8-5 overall on the season and to a perfect 7-0 in Skyline Conference play. Next up for the Knights is a trip to Sarah Lawrence on Wednesday. Kick-off with the Gryphons at Tibbetts Brook Park is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
