Purchase, N.Y. – Fred Stark (Hollis, N.Y.) scored three times and
Joey Dolan (New Paltz, N.Y.) tallied his team leading 11
th goal of the season on Wednesday night as the Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team closed out the regular season in impressive fashion, downing Purchase on the road by a score of 7-1.
Dolan and Stark opened the scoring early on Wednesday, converting the first two goals of the game just under four minutes apart. Dolan's 11
th of the season came in the 11
th minute off a feed from
Joseph Sadofsky (Mamaroneck, N.Y.), before Stark tallied the eventual game winner off an assist from Dolan in the 15
th minute.
Freshman
Kenan Kizar (Manalapan, N.J.) closed out the scoring in the first half with his third goal of his rookie campaign with just over two minutes left before halftime. He finished off a cross from classmate
Joe Bacalhau (Woodbridge, N.J.) at the 42:39 mark of the contest to send the Knights into the intermission with a 3-0 lead.
Coming out of halftime, the Mount got back on the board with Bobby Coronia's (Ossining, N.Y.) first goal of the season just under five minutes into the second stanza. He converted Sadofsky's second assist of the game to push the Knights in front 4-0.
Over the final 27 minutes of the contest, the Knights would score three more times, including two more goals from Stark and Sadofsky's second marker of the season.
Eric Hayes (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) assisted on two goals in the second half, pushing his team lead in the category to seven.
Stark moved into second place on the team in goals with his output on Wednesday and into a tie for second place in points with 11. Dolan moved his team lead in points to 26 on the night, while Sadofsky finished the evening with four points on a goal and two assists. He was one of three Knights in the game to finish with a goal and a helper.
Senior Tyler BIscone (Garden City Park, N.Y.) picked up the win in goal a single saves in just over 82 minutes of action for the Knights.
Overall, Mount Saint Mary finished the game with a 23-3 advantage in shots, including a 17-2 edge in shots on goal. Corner kicks also favored the Knights on Wednesday, 4-3.
At 11-6-1 overall and 10-1 in conference play, the Knights will be off until the semifinal round of the Skyline Conference Championship. Mount Saint Mary will host the winner of the Sage and Old Westbury First Round game on November 2 at 7:00 p.m.
