Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team and Sage played to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night in the semifinal round of the 2016 Skyline Conference Championship, with the Gators advancing to the title game on penalty kicks. Sophomore
Joey Dolan (New Paltz, N.Y.) scored the team's lone goal in the second half.

Following a scoreless first half that saw Sage outshoot Mount Saint Mary 7-3, the two teams each struck with goals just under 10 minutes apart in the middle stages of the second half on Wednesday. Sage got on the board first in the 68
th minute when Joseph Diano finished off a feed from Lai Le following a corner kick at 67:37 to open the scoring.

Mount Saint Mary would answer with the equalizer in the 77
th minute when Dolan brought the Mount even with his 12
th marker of the year. After
Eric Hayes (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) fed a cross along the top of the box, senior
Matthew Minniter (Mahopac, N.Y.) found Dolan inside the six and he finished off the tally at 76:17 to even the score at 1-1.

The Knights would have two more chances to collect the deciding tally, but a Dolan shot sailed high late in regulation and a header from Dolan early in the first overtime period was tipped over the crossbar to preserve the tie.

Over the second half and overtime periods, Sage outshot the Mount 11-9 and finished the game with an 18-12 edge and an 11-4 advantage in shots on goal. Sage also held a slim advantage in corner kicks in the game at 6-5.

In the shootout, Sage converted on all four of its chances, while the Mount misfired on two tries. Minniter and
Ivan Dorador (Valley Stream, N.Y.) converted in the shootout for the Knights.

Dolan finished the game with a team-high seven shots, including three on goal, as he and Hayes accounted for nine of the team's 12 attempts.

Senior
Tyler Biscone (Garden City, N.Y.) finished the game with nine saves, matching his season-high in stops. Sage keeper, Mike Chiaravalloti finished with three stops in the game and made one more in the shootout.

Wednesday's draw moves Mount Saint Mary to 11-6-2 overall on the season.
