Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team will put its program record eight game winning streak and its unbeaten conference record on the line Saturday afternoon when it plays host to Old Westbury on Senior Day. Joey Dolan (New Paltz, N.Y.) scored a pair of goals and senior
Tyler Biscone (Garden City, N.Y.) recorded his fourth straight shutout and Skyline Conference leading sixth of the season.
Dolan became the first Knight to reach 10 goals in a season since Matt Garcia scored 11 in 2014 with his two tallies against the Gryphons. It marked the second straight game he potted two goals as he moved his team leading point total to 23.
Eric Hayes (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) leads the squad in assists with five and senior
Mike Zanfardino (Saint James, N.Y.) picked up his fourth helper of the season in Tuesday's victory.
Biscone has blanked each of the Mount's last four opponents and in the process has lowered his goals against average to 1.18 and raised his save percentage to .750. He currently leads the conference in shutouts and ranks in the top 10 in saves, save percentage and goals against average.
Previewing The Panthers: Old Westbury comes to town Saturday having won its last five games and sits in fourth place in the league standings with an 8-3-4 overall record and a 5-1-1 mark against league rivals. The Panthers scored at 3-2 double overtime win over St. Joseph's-L.I. in their last outing with Dominick Guidice scoring the game winner in the 104
th minute.
Guidice leads Old Westbury coming into the weekend with 11 goals, including three game winners, and 24 points. James Marchena has produced a team-high six assists for the Panthers thus far in 2016.
Mike Warren has started 14 games in goal for Old Westbury and brings a 1.09 goals against average and a .828 save percentage to town, while making 77 stops on the year. He ranks second in the league in save percentage and third in goals against average.
Recent History: The two sides have met once a season since the start of the 2007 campaign with each team winning four times and tying once. The Knights are unbeaten in their last four meetings with Old Westbury winning three and tying last season 1-1. Over the four game unbeaten streak, the Mount is outscoring Old Westbury 16-3.
What's Next: Following Saturday's Skyline showdown, the Knights will step out of conference to play host to New Paltz on Tuesday night. Kick-off with the Hawks is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
