Knights Sweep Medgar Evers, Run Winning Streak To Four Matches

Maddock posts 10 aces, 22 assists in victory

Newburgh, N.Y. – Led by 10 service aces and 22 assists from Kristen Maddock (Medford, N.Y.) and 10 kills from Jennifer Bones (Camden, Del.), the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team picked up its fourth straight win with a 25-13, 25-9, 25-17 non-conference win over Medgar Evers on Wednesday night.
 
The Knights finished the match hitting an efficient .328 as a team after posting a .409 attack percentage in the third set on Wednesday. Mount Saint Mary posted 12 kills in the final frame against the Cougars against just three miscues.
 
In addition to putting away 31 kills in the match, the Knights recorded a season-high 26 service aces and reached double-figures in the category for the second straight match and for the fourth time this season. Maddock led eight different players in the match with an ace, with Jackie Survilla (West Islip, N.Y.) posting five and Nicole Spinelli (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Kayla Kurka (Islip, N.Y.) each recording three.
 
Bones reached double-figures in kills for the first time in 2015, with a match-high 10, while hitting a blistering .667. Elizabeth Lavin (Hicksville, N.Y.) finished up with seven winners with Spinelli putting away four kills.
 
Overall for the match, Mount Saint Mary held a 31-7 advantage in kills and held Medgar Evers to a -.158 attack percentage. The Knights held a commanding edge in service aces at 26-3 and recorded the only two total team blocks in the contest. Bones led the Mount with a pair of block assists on the night.
 
With Wednesday's win, Mount Saint Mary improves to 4-14 overall on the season. The Knights will look to extend their winning streak on Saturday when they travel to William Paterson for a pair of non-conference matches. The Mount will tussle with York (N.Y.) at 1:00 p.m. and then the host Pioneers at 3:00 p.m.
