Men’s Lacrosse Handed 20-6 Defeat at Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Mount Saint Mary College men's lacrosse team (3-7) dropped a 20-6 decision to Elizabethtown College (11-2) in a tough non-conference matchup Wednesday afternoon at Wolf Field.
 
The Blue Jays' Russ LeClair turned in an eight-point outing to lead the home team to victory on Wednesday. He scored three times and assisted five more scores in addition to six ground balls and three caused turnovers. Joe Clark scored five times for Elizabethtown, while Cody Larkin added four scores. Matt Rucci scooped up an impressive 11 ground balls and won 16-of-28 face-offs for the Blue Jays.
 
Freshman midfielder Dylan De Meo (Franklin Square, N.Y.) shined in Wednesday's loss by scoring three times and adding an assist for four points on the afternoon. He now has 29 points on 16 goals and 13 assists through 10 games and has tallied multiple points in eight of those games. Freshman midfielder Danny Kugler (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) scored once and helped out another for a two-point effort. Freshman attackman Nicholas Graziano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and senior midfielder David Hobbs (Baldwin, N.Y.) netted the other two goals for the Knights.
 
Chris Wenger picked up the win for Elizabethtown, making 11 saves and allowing just four goals in 45 minutes between the pipes. Freshman netminder Christopher Doerr (Pleasantville, N.Y.) suffered the loss after allowing eight goals in 17:34.
 
The Blue Jays were more aggressive on the offensive front, firing off 49 shots compared to 27 for the Knights. They also scooped up 54 ground balls while the Knights managed 38.
 
The Knights face a tough task when they host Montclair State University in Skyline Conference action on Saturday, April 11 for Super Fan Day at Kaplan Field.
