Women’s Soccer Pushes Unbeaten Streak To Six Games

Guillemette tallies twice in victory

Yonkers, N.Y. – Senior Melissa Guillemette (Branford, Conn.) scored twice and the Knights got two assists each from Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, N.Y.) and Alaina Neddermann (Prospect, Conn.) on Saturday as they posted a convincing 6-0 road conference win at Sarah Lawrence. The win was the team's fourth straight and it moved its unbeaten streak to 5-0-1.

Guillemette wasted little time scoring her third game winning goal of the season and the fifth deciding tally of her career. She finished off a pass from classmate Melissa Maini (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) just 40 seconds into the game to give Mount Saint Mary a 1-0 advantage.

Guillemette struck with her second goal of the game and her fourth of the season to double the Knights' lead in the sixth minute. She headed in a pass from Neddermann from close range at 5:29 to push the early edge to 2-0.

Mount Saint Mary carried the two goal advantage into the intermission after outshooting the Gryphons 9-1. The Knights took both corner kicks in the opening period and forced Sarah Lawrence goalkeeper, Addie Rosenberg, to make three stops.

Leading by two goals coming out of the break, Mount Saint Mary struck in the first minute of the second half to push its lead to three goals. Freshman Maeve O'Sullivan (Garden City Park, N.Y.) scored her second goal of the season 58 seconds into the second stanza, finishing off a crossing pass from Ribadebeyra.

The Knights added three more goals in the second frame on Saturday, with Maini, Jacqueline Davis (East Islip, N.Y.) and Kylie Walsh (West Islip, N.Y.) all scoring in the final 25 minutes of regulation time. Walsh and Davis each scored for the first time in their careers with Davis closing out a three point day with the assist on Waslh's tally.

Mount Saint Mary finished the game with five different goal scorers, seven different players with at least one point and Maini and Davis who each finished with a goal and an assist.

The Knights outshot the Gryphons 31-1 in the game, including 16-0 in shots on goal and corner kicks went to Mount Saint Mary 5-0 on the afternoon.

Sophomore Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) picked up her sixth shutout of the season for the Knights without having to make save. Rosenberg finished the day with 10 stops for Sarah Lawrence.

Saturday's win moves Mount Saint Mary to 8-3-1 overall on the season and a perfect 4-0-0 in Skyline Conference play. The Knights will step out of conference on Monday night when they travel to Rutgers-Newark. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
