Knights Top Sarah Lawrence, Win Second Straight League Decision

Dolan scores twice for Mount Saint Mary

Newburgh, N.Y. – Freshman Joseph Dolan (New Paltz, N.Y.) recorded his first career multiple goal game and classmate Michael Blaauboer (Latham, N.Y.) picked up a point in his third straight game on Saturday as the Mount Saint Mary Men's scored team scored a key 3-0 conference decision over visiting Sarah Lawrence.

Dolan got the scoring started for the Knights with what proved to be his first career game winning goal in the 23rd minute. He deposited a chip pass from freshman Connor Lynch (Clifton Park, N.Y.) into the back of the net at the 22:40 mark of the match for the early one goal advantage.

Late in the opening period, newcomer Bereket Watts (Southold, N.Y.) scored for the first time in his young career to push the Knights in front by two goals heading into halftime. He finished off passes from Lynch and Blaauboer with just under 15 minutes left in the first half. Lynch picked up his second helper of the game and Blaauboer extended his team lead in points to 15.

Over the opening 45 minutes, Mount Saint Mary outshot the visitors 13-0 and took each of the three corner kicks awarded in the half.

The only goal of the second half was scored in the 60th minute when Dolan cleaned up a rebound inside the box. He buried his second goal of the game, his third of the season, at 59:18 to close out the scoring in the game.

The Knights finished the second half with 13 more shots to finish the game with a 26-0 advantage in the category, including a 10-0 edge in shots on goal. Eleven Knights finished with at least one shot in the game, with Joe Sadofsky (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) leading the way with five attempts.

A pair of Mount Saint Mary goalkeepers combined for the shutout win on Saturday, with Austin Peluso (Farmington, Conn.) earning the win without making a save in just over 70 minutes of work. Tyler Biscone (Garden City, N.Y.) came on to work just shy of 20 minutes in the second half for the Knights. James Berry made seven saves for Sarah Lawrence on the day.

Saturday's win moves Mount Saint Mary to 4-7-1 overall on the season and into a share of the league lead at 3-1 in conference play. The Knights will close out a three game home stand on October 7 when they welcome Amherst to Kaplan Field. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
