Throggs Neck, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team rounded out the 2015 regular season on Tuesday night with a 7-0 road victory at Maritime. The Knights featured five different goal scorers and eight different players with a point.
Mount Saint Mary got on the board in the 11
th minute when
Emily Scheuer (North Babylon, N.Y.) converted her second goal of the season and her first game winning goal of the year at the 10:31 mark of the contest. Senior
Melissa Guillemette (Branford, Conn.) and junior
Alaina Neddermann (Prospect, Conn.) each picked up an assist on the early marker.
The Scheuer goal was the first of three for the Knights in the first half, with Guillemette and
Kylie Walsh (West Islip, N.Y.) adding tallies for the Mount. Guillemette scored her first of the game at the 18:46 mark of the match and Walsh deposited her second marker of the year off a pass from
Nicole Cavallo (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) at 22:56.
Mount Saint Mary added four more goals after halftime on Tuesday, starting with Guillemette's second of the game and team leading 11
th of the season just 2:56 into the second stanza. Cavallo picked up her second assist of the night when she hit Guillemette with a pass at the top of the box from the right wing.
Senior
Melissa Maini (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) picked up her fifth goal of the season in the 56
th minute, before Jaqueline Davis (Islip Terrance, N.Y.) added her fifth of the season with just under nine minutes left in regulation. Sophomore
Bridget McKeever (Wallkill, N.Y.) assisted on both goals for the Knights.
Guillemette finished the regular season finale with five points on the strength of two goals and an assist, giving her team-highs in goals with 11 and points with 24 in 2015. Cavallo and McKeever each recorded two assists in the win for the Knights.
Sophomore
Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) was not forced to make a save in the game, recording her 10
th shutout of the season. Maritime keeper Cammie Havens stopped 10 Mount Saint Mary shots on the night for the Privateers.
For the night, Mount Saint Mary finished the game with a 28-0 advantage in shots, including a 17-0 edge in shots on goal, and a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Tuesday's win moves Mount Saint Mary to 13-6-1 overall on the season and to 9-1-0 in Skyline Conference play. The Knights will be back in action when they open the Skyline Conference Tournament with seeding, pairings and game times to be announced.
