NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Despite a 16-6 shot difference in favor of the Knights, the Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team (4-3) was unable to score and dropped a 2-0 non-conference decision to William Paterson University (3-2-3) Wednesday evening at Kaplan Field.
The Knights had control for most of the game, also holding a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal, but they were unable to get one into the back of the net for 90 minutes. William Paterson's Sidney Gabrich broke a scoreless tie in the 77th minute with a shot from the right side that beat the keeper. Alana Keffer scored in the 90th minute to double the lead for the Pioneers on a 40-yard shot that took a high hop into the net.

Marissa Segreto (West Islip, N.Y.) had a game-high four shots on goal, while senior forward
Nicole Gianotti (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) put two of her three shots on target.
Freshman goalkeeper
Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) shouldered the loss, making two saves and allowing a pair of goals. William Paterson's Angela Sandelli made nine stops to earn the victory.
The Knights will look to get back on track on Saturday, Sept. 27, when they travel to Patchogue, N.Y. for a Skyline Conference matchup with St. Joseph's College (L.I.). The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
