TROY, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team (16-16, 5-2 Skyline) split its matches at the Skyline tri-match hosted by The Sage Colleges on Saturday, falling to Sage (23-4, 9-0 Skyline), 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-20), and then bouncing back to defeat Purchase College (2-24, 0-6 Skyline), 3-0 (25-11, 25-5, 25-6).
The Knights fell behind early after the Gators took the first set, 25-16. They played a pair of competitive sets after that, but Sage made a run toward the end of both to take a 3-0 victory in the match.
Rachel Martin led Sage with 15 kills in the morning match, while Helen Putriment added 10. Rachel Liebig dished out 30 assists.
Sophomore outside hitter
Rachel Sabatini (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) led the Knights with seven kills, while junior right side
Maribeth Powers (Yorktown, N.Y.) added six. Sophomore setters
Claire Scully (Bloomfield, N.J.) and
Kristen Maddock (Medford, N.Y.) matched each other with 10 assists apiece. Freshman libero
Chelsea Barberan (Fishkill, N.Y.) picked up 13 digs.
The Knights bounced back quickly to shutout Purchase College in their final match of the day. They took the first set, 25-11, before dominating the final two sets, 25-5 and 25-6.

Katie Lynch (Island Park, N.Y.) had six kills to lead the Knights in their final match of the day. Freshman outside hitter
Jackie Survilla (West Islip, N.Y.) served up a match-high seven aces, while Scully added five and passed out six assists. The Knights held Purchase to a hitting percentage of -.261 in the match.
The Knights will look to solidify their spot and seed in the Skyline Conference Championship tournament when they partake in the final Skyline tri-match of the season next Saturday, Nov. 1, at SUNY College at Old Westbury. They will take on the College of Mount Saint Vincent at 12 p.m., and then finish their day against Old Westbury at 2 p.m.
