NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Senior forward
Marissa Segreto (West Islip, N.Y.) scored three times in the first 16 minutes of the game to lead the Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team (11-4-1, 5-0-1 Skyline) to a rain-shortened shutout victory over Maritime College (5-9-1, 1-5 Skyline) Wednesday evening at Kaplan Field. The game was stopped at 70:01 due to inclement weather.
Segreto, who now leads the Knights with 12 goals on the season, scored twice in the first 4:03, both times off feeds from junior midfielder
Melissa Guillemette (Branford, Conn.). She scored the Knights' fourth goal at 15:31 on an unassisted goal that was deflected into the net to pick up the first hat trick of her career.
Guillemette was rewarded after a pair of early assists, scoring for the first time this season off a set-up from freshman defender
Gina Sargente (Warwick, N.Y.) at 4:54. Freshman defender
Bridget McKeever (Wallkill, N.Y.) scored her second of the year in the 37th minute on a shot from the top of the box past the keeper to the right side of the net. Freshman forward
Dava Fortunato (Scarsdale, N.Y.) connected on her fifth goal of the year in the 63rd minute, helped by a cross from freshman midfielder
Nicole Cavallo (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.). Freshman forward
Dana Schneider (Wading River, N.Y.) tallied her third of the year in the 64th minute on a 20-yard blast.

Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) did not face a shot en route to her sixth shutout and 11th victory of the season. Maritime's Kristen Hoar, the Skyline leader in saves, stopped 13 shots, but suffered the loss after allowing seven goals.
The Knights played shut-down defense throughout the evening and did not allow a single shot from the Privateers, while firing off 26 of their own. They also held an edge in corner kicks, 6-1.
The Knights can clinch a bye in the first round of the Skyline Conference Championship tournament with a win in their next matchup. They will take on the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday, Oct. 25, in Riverdale, N.Y. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
