FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – A late second-half goal by Farmingdale State College's (10-4-3, 5-0-1 Skyline) Ashlee Thompson tied the game, forcing a 1-1 draw after double overtime between the host Rams and the Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team (10-4-1, 4-0-1 Skyline) Saturday afternoon in Farmingdale. The tie ends the Knights' 30-game regular-season winning streak against Skyline Conference opponents.
Thompson sent the ball into the lower left corner of the net to tie the game for the Rams in the 88th minute of play. Neither team was able to break the tie through 20 minutes of overtime, forcing a draw in the rematch of the 2013 Skyline Conference Championship final.
Senior forward
Marissa Segreto (West Islip, N.Y.) gave the Knights a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute with a shot from 18 yards out that found its way over the keeper's head and into the net.
Freshman goalkeeper
Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) made eight saves in the first draw on her record this season. Farmingdale State's Breanna Blair stopped five shots and allowed one goal.
The Rams outshot the Knights, 27-12, in Saturday's contest. The home team also earned five corner kicks, while the Knights had just three.
The Knights get back to work on Wednesday, Oct. 22, when they host Maritime College in Skyline Conference action at Kaplan Field. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m.
