Women’s Soccer's Skyline Win Streak Hits 30 with 2-0 Victory over Sage

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team (10-4, 4-0 Skyline) improved its regular-season Skyline Conference winning streak to 30 games on Thursday, as the Knights defeated The Sage Colleges (6-4-2, 3-2 Skyline), 2-0, Thursday evening at Plumeri Sports Complex on the campus of The College of St. Rose.

Senior defender Jordyn Catapano (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) broke the scoreless tie in the 40th minute after redirecting a corner kick from freshman defender Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, N.Y.) for what eventually proved to be the game-winning goal. Catapano scored the winner for the Knights in double overtime on Oct. 8 at King's College (Pa.)

Senior forward Marissa Segreto (West Islip, N.Y.) doubled the Knights' lead in the 57th minute on a breakaway down the right wing, ensuring the Knights' victory after playing stellar defense once again.

Freshman goalkeeper Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) picked up her fifth shutout victory of the season, making one save. Teagan Waddingham made 12 saves for the Gators, but allowed both goals to suffer the loss.

The Knights had complete control of the game from the get-go, outshooting the Gators, 24-1. They also earned six corner kicks and yielded just one to their hosts.

The Knights' next game is their most crucial of the season, as they face defending Skyline Champion Farmingdale State College on Saturday, Oct. 18. The game is set to kick off in Farmingdale, N.Y. at 1 p.m.
