NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team (9-4) picked up a non-conference victory over Lehman College (6-6-1) by a score of 9-0 Monday evening at Kaplan Field.
Senior midfielder
Nicole Gianotti (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and freshman forward
Dana Schneider (Wading River, N.Y.) each scored twice for the Knights to lead them to victory. Gianotti now leads the Knights with eight goals on the season after recording her fourth multi-goal game in the last eight games. She also added an assist for a five-point night.
Senior forward
Marissa Segreto (West Islip, N.Y.) tallied her seventh goal and her fifth and sixth assists of the year to hold on to the team lead with 19 points. Senior midfielder
Vanessa DiSilvio (Massapequa, N.Y.) notched her first goal of the year, while freshmen
Destiny Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, N.Y.),
Dava Fortunato (Scarsdale, N.Y.) and
Bridget McKeever (Wallkill, N.Y.) also got on the board. Ribadeneyra also added an assist. Freshman defender
Jessica Lanning (Hicksville, N.Y.) picked up her second assist of the year, while senior forward
Michelle Sabogal (Forest Hills, N.Y.) assisted two goals in the Knights' win.
Freshman goalkeeper
Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) did not face a shot after playing the first half to pick up the victory. DiSilvio took over in net for the second half, and did not have to stop any shots. Lehman's Stephanie Gonzalez made 14 saves, but allowed all nine goals to shoulder the loss.
The Knights significantly outshot their guests, 33-1. They also picked up nine corner kicks, while allowing the Lightning to attempt just one on the evening.
The Knights get back to their Skyline Conference schedule on Thursday, Oct. 16, when they travel to Troy, N.Y. for a matchup with The Sage Colleges. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m.
