YONKERS, N.Y. – In their first-ever Skyline Conference meeting, the Mount Saint Mary College men's soccer team (6-2-1, 3-0-0 Skyline) shut out Sarah Lawrence College (1-7, 0-3 Skyline), 3-0, Wednesday evening at Tibbetts Brook Field.
The Knights held the Gryphons to just two totals shots on the evening, while firing off 27 of their own. Sophomore goalkeeper
Tyler Biscone (Garden City, N.Y.) did not need to stop a shot to get the shutout victory, while Sarah Lawrence's Nikos Efstratudakis made eight saves, but allowed three goals to suffer the loss.
Senior defender
Steve Ehresman (Whitestone, N.Y.) kicked things off with a score off a cross from graduate student midfielder
Sean Lockwood (Manahawkin, N.J.) in the 22nd minute to get the Knights on the board. The goal was his first of the season. Less than two minutes later, sophomore midfielder
Matt Minniter (Mahopac, N.Y.) followed up a rebound off a shot from junior forward
Michael Ennis (Carmel, N.Y.) to put the Knights up 2-0 before the half.
Senior forward
Matt Garcia (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) gave the Knights their third goal on a penalty kick in the 53rd minute. He led the Knights with seven shots on the evening, three of which were on goal.
The Knights will look to build upon their three-game winning streak and undefeated conference record on Saturday, Oct. 4, when they travel to the Bronx to take on Maritime College. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
