OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's basketball team (2-13, 2-4 Skyline) fell to Skyline opponent SUNY College at Old Westbury (5-12, 3-3 Skyline), 82-67, Saturday afternoon at the Clark Athletic Center.

The Knights were led by the Perrone sisters with senior forward Rachel Perrone (Poughquag, N.Y.) documenting a double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds, while senior forward Jessica Perrone (Poughquag, N.Y.) recorded 18 points and six boards. Junior guard Lauren Romao (Brick, N.J.) had 13 points and five assists of her own. Junior forward Natalie Candarelli (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) filled out her stat sheet with a double-double, contributing 11 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore guard Nicole Scicutella (Massapequa, N.Y.) led the Knights in assists with six.

Jasmine Robinson was the leading scorer for the Panthers with 20 points and also grabbed five rebounds. Teammates Clarissa Gallagher and DeAndra Scott each scored 15 points, with Scott leading her team with 14 rebounds.

The Knights and the Panthers battled throughout the first half with six lead changes. With 7:16 left in the opening frame and the game tied at 21, Scott put the Panthers up with a layup in the paint followed by a fast break from teammate Robinson, giving them a 25-21 edge over the Knights. Jessica Perrone responded with a fast break of her own, cutting the deficit to two. Candarelli was then charged with a foul, sending Chloe Mellon to the line, where she sank both free throws. Rachel Perrone answered with a fast break, keeping the game within two, and then Romao hit a three-pointer, giving the Knights a 28-27 advantage. With 1:25 remaining the Panthers went on an 8-0 run to secure a 37-34 lead at the half, from which they would never look back.

The Mount held the Panthers to a three-point lead early in the second half, but that was as close as it would get as Old Westbury ran away with the half, outscoring the Knights, 45-33, leading to an 82-67 victory. 

The Knights shot 38.2 percent from the field, while the Panthers shot 36.7 percent. The Panthers grabbed 19 offensive rebounds which resulted in them outscoring the Knights 17-8 in second chance points. The Panther bench contributed 15 points while the Knights bench was unable to score in Saturday's loss.

The Knights return to action on Monday, Jan. 27, when they travel to Brooklyn College for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference matchup.
