RIVERDALE, N.Y. – A hot start by the home team doomed the Knights, as the Mount Saint Mary College women's basketball team (0-12, 0-3 Skyline) dropped a Skyline Conference matchup to the College of Mount Saint Vincent (7-3, 2-1 Skyline) Wednesday evening at the Peter Jay Sharp Center.
The Dolphins swam out to an 11-0 lead in the first 3:45 of the game and never faltered. The hosts drained six three-pointers in the opening frame to contribute to their 42-20 halftime advantage. The Knights were stronger from the field in the second half and sank four threes, but the Dolphins managed to shoot 47.5 percent to hold their big lead until the final buzzer.
Brittany Carroll led the Dolphins with a game-high 20 points on an efficient 8-for-11 night from the field. Kelly Fraser picked up a double-double with 14 points and an impressive 21 rebounds. Brittany Lee also recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards.

Lauren Romao (Brick, N.J.) scored 19 points for her third-straight double-digit scoring game. Senior forward
Rachel Perrone (Poughquag, N.Y.) scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while twin sister
Jessica Perrone (Poughquag, N.Y.) pulled down a team-high ten boards.
The Dolphins controlled the game from short range, outscoring the Knights, 40-12, in the paint. 23 offensive rebounds for the home team led to a 19-0 differential in second half points.
The Knights return to action on Saturday, Jan. 18, when they host St. Joseph's College (L.I.) in a Skyline Conference matchup at the Kaplan Center. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
