PURCHASE, N.Y. – After 110 scoreless minutes of play and nine rounds of penalty kicks, senior forward
Christian Redl (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) sent the Mount Saint Mary College men's soccer team (11-4-3, 5-2-2 Skyline) into the Skyline Conference Championship finals with a ninth-round shootout goal to exact revenge from 11 days prior and eliminate Purchase College (9-7-3, 6-3-1 Skyline) from the conference tournament.

Matt Darling (Staatsburg, N.Y.) stopped the shot by Purchase midfielder Danny Moallem in the ninth round, allowing Redl the opportunity to advance the Knights to the conference championship. With the ninth penalty kick, Redl was able to beat Panther goalkeeper Esteban Aguilar to give the Knights the 8-7 win in the penalty shootout.
Darling made six saves to secure the shutout, while Aguilar stopped 18 shots to help send the game into the penalty-kick shootout.
The Knights outshot the Panthers, 33-11, on the evening, but the Panthers held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Knights return to action on Saturday, Nov. 9, when they face the Farmingdale State College Rams in the Skyline Conference Championship Final, which will be held as part of the Skyline Fall Festival that will take place at Kaplan Field. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
