Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Old Westbury in Regular Season Finale

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team (16-19, 6-3 Skyline) defeated The College at Old Westbury (6-19, 2-7 Skyline), 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-18), on Sunday in their final Skyline Conference matchup before the Skyline Conference Championships.

The Knights hit at a .147 clip on Sunday compared to a -.032 hitting percentage for the Panthers in Sunday's win that lasted just one hour and three minutes. Sophomore middle blocker Kayla Kurka (Islip, N.Y.) led the Knights with nine kills, while freshman outside hitter Rachel Sabatini (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) hit a team-high .545 and added seven more kills. Freshman setter Claire Scully (Bloomfield, N.J.) dished out 21 assists in two sets, while sophomore libero Jen Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) picked up 16 digs.

Rayn Brown led the Panthers with seven digs on the afternoon. Kimberly Catania had a team-best nine assists and three services aces. Allie Giancola picked up 17 digs in the loss.

The Knights head into the Skyline Conference Championship as the No. 5 seed and will travel to The College of Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday, Nov. 6, for a quarterfinal-round matchup. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
