Box Score

NEW PALTZ, N.Y.- Senior forward Matt Garcia (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) scored the game winner in a 2-1 double overtime victory for the Mount Saint Mary College men's soccer team (10-3-2, 5-1-2 Skyline) over regional rival SUNY New Paltz (4-10-3) on Tuesday at Alumni Field.

Garcia had the game winning shot in the 110th minute of play off of a free kick he bent around the line of defenders to place it in the left corner of the net, lifting the Knights to a 2-1 victory over the Hawks.

New Paltz struck first in the 20th minute of play when Alec Johnson drove the ball into the net off of a pass from Stephen Browne. The Mount would not answer until the 71st minute, when senior midfielder Sean Lockwood (Manahawkin, N.J.) took the ball along the left side and netted it in the right corner, sending the game into overtime.

Freshman goalkeeper Tyler Biscone (Garden City, N.Y.) made his first start of the season. Biscone made one save and gave up one goal in the first half. Senior goalkeeper Matt Darling (Staatsburg, N.Y.) started the second half and finished the game for the Knights, documenting four saves in the win. Hawks goalkeeper Andres Montoya recorded six saves in the loss.

The Knights return to action on Saturday, Oct. 26, when they host Purchase College for the last Skyline contest of the season. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
