Garcia’s Hat Trick Leads Knights to 10-0 Rout of Yeshiva

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Junior forward Matt Garcia (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) led the Mount Saint Mary College men's soccer team (9-3-2, 5-1-2 Skyline) to a 10-0 rout of Yeshiva University (1-9-0, 1-6-0 Skyline) in Skyline Conference action on Sunday at Kaplan Field with his second hat trick of the season.

Garcia pushed his season total to 14 goals with three on the day, all coming in the first half of play. He was joined by senior forward Sean Barton (Wallkill, N.Y.) and junior defender Mark Maus (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), who also recorded multi-goal games with two apiece. Senior midfielder Brandon Mincher (Bayport, N.Y.), sophomore midfielder Michael Ennis (Carmel, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Adam Palumbo (East Islip, N.Y.) each scored in the game as well.

Senior midfielder Christian Redl (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and Mincher each dished out two assists in the win. Graduate student defender Kevin Ryan (West Islip, N.Y.), sophomore defender Jarrett Armstrong (West Hempstead, N.Y.), Ennis and Barton each picked up an assist as well.

Senior goalkeeper Matt Darling (Staatsburg, N.Y.) needed just two saves to earn his sixth shutout and ninth victory of the season. Yeshiva's Doron David made 11 saves in the loss.

The Knights head over the river to the State University of New York at New Paltz on Tuesday, Oct. 22, for a non-conference matchup with the Hawks. The action is set to kick off at 3 p.m. from Alumni Field.
