THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The postseason run for upset-minded Mount Saint Mary College came to a close on Wednesday night with a 1-0 loss to Maritime College in the Skyline Conference semifinals. The Knights finish the season at 8-10-1, while the Privateers advance to play top-seeded St. Joseph's College in Saturday's championship game.
Maritime broke through for the game's only goal following a free kick in the 15th minute. Senior Arthur Melody (East Fishkill, N.Y.) found senior Jack Blunden (Arlington, Va.) with the free kick, who then hit senior Tom Federico (Islip, N.Y.). Federico beat Mount sophomore goalkeeper

Mount Saint Mary's best chance to tie the game came in the 67th minute. Junior

Still trailing 1-0, the Knights were forced to push forward in the game's final 20 minutes. A header from sophomore
Brandon Mincher (Bayport, N.Y.) went wide of the mark in the 72nd minute, as did a shot from junior
Kevin Ryan (West Islip, N.Y.) in the 74th minute. Still pressing forward, junior
Ryan Folken (Centereach, N.Y.) missed the frame with a header following a corner kick in the 82nd minute.
Vanadia made three saves to preserve the shutout for Maritime. Darling made seven stops for the Knights.
