PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to St. Joseph's College in Skyline Conference action on Saturday. The Knights fall to 5-8-1 overall and to 2-5-0 in the Skyline, while the Golden Eagles improve to 10-6-0 overall and stay unbeaten in the league at 6-0-0.
Mount Saint Mary went down right away as St. Joseph's junior Craig Ceruti (Shoreham, N.Y.) headed home a cross in the third minute to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead. The Knights, however, responded with a strong 20 minutes and were rewarded with the tying goal in the 24th minute. Junior

The score would remain tied into the second half, but it was St. Joseph's that broke the tie in the 57th minute. Junior John Dettori (Bay Shore, N.Y.) launched a shot from 30 yards that caught the top left corner of the net for a 2-1 advantage. Dettori would add another goal in the 69th minute, finishing off a give-and-go with sophomore Terrance Dzus (Central Islip, N.Y.), to make the score, 3-1.

Matt Darling (Staatsburg, N.Y.) made seven saves in defeat. St. Joseph's freshman keeper Chris Muhs (West Babylon, N.Y.) made four stops for the win.
The Knights return home to face John Jay College on Thursday, October 20. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Kaplan Field.
