NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Despite a second half goal from freshman
Rob Thompson (West Babylon, N.Y.), Mount Saint Mary College lost a non-conference game to Albertus Magnus College on Saturday afternoon. The Knights (0-2) are still seeking their first victory of the 2010 season.
The Falcons tallied two goals in the first half. Nick Hamasian (Hamden, Conn.) finished off a corner kick in the 25th minute to provide the game's first goal, and then sophomore Steven Zapata (Hamden, Conn.) converted a penalty kick in the 32nd minute to double the advantage.
Thompson cut the Mount's deficit in half during the 63rd minute, putting home a feed from freshman
Anthony Rizzi (Cornwall, N.Y.).
The Falcons outshot the Knights, 22-7, and it was freshman Matthew Darling (Staatsburg, N.Y.) who made 12 saves for the Mount.
Mount Saint Mary will take another crack at their first win during a road trip to Keystone College on Wednesday, September 8. The game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in La Plume, Pennsylvania.
