RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College volleyball team remained unbeaten in Skyline play after posting straight set wins over Purchase College (25-11, 25-12, 25-16) and SUNY Maritime College (25-13, 25-12, 25-14). The Knights now stand at 6-7 on the season and 3-0 in Skyline play.
Sophomore
Lauren Halverson (Patchogue, N.Y.) was stellar both defensively and offensively in the first match against Purchase. Halverson dished out 22 assists, racked up 12 digs and contributed three blocks. Another offensive force for the Mount was junior
Teresa Sorrentino (Bellerose, N.Y.) who served up three aces and tallied six kills. Freshman
Kaylene Pennings (Minisink, N.Y.) added a team-high five blocks.
In the second match of the day, Halverson continued her strong play, totaling 32 assists and recording a team-high 15 digs. Sorrentino was once again impressive, finishing with five kills and four aces. Sophomore
Mary Ann Raftery (Long Beach, N.Y.) came on strong against the Privateers and tallied eight kills and eight digs.
Next up for the Knights is a Skyline Conference match-up against Polytechnic Institute of NYU. The match is scheduled to begin play at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28.
