NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team made history on Saturday, defeating visiting Medgar Evers College to earn their twentieth win of the season. This marks the first twenty-win season in program history. The Knights won in straight sets over the Cougars (25-18, 25-13, 25-14) to conclude the regular season.
Sophomore
Lauren Halverson (Patchogue, N.Y.) continued to perform for the Knights, dishing out 22 assists, to go along with five service aces seven digs. Junior
Teresa Sorrentino (Bellerose, N.Y.) and sophomore
Erica Southern (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) led the team with five kills each. Sorrentino also added a team-high nine digs. Southern and junior
Meagan Lewis-Bie (Rocky Point, N.Y.) both recorded four service aces in the match. Senior
Elizabeth Douress (Rahway, N.J.) added four kills, two aces, and a team-high four blocks.
As the number one seed in the Skyline Conference tournament, the Knights will host the semifinals and finals on Saturday, November 6. The Mount will play against the winner of a quarterfinal match between Farmingdale State College and St. Joseph's College.
