WEST HARRISON, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College men's soccer team exploded for seven goals on Sunday as they defeated Yeshiva University, 7-0, in a Skyline Conference game in West Harrison, New York. The Knights improved to 2-13-2 overall and to 2-6-2 in the conference.
Sophomore
Matt Pagano (Mahopac, N.Y.) opened the scoring for the Knights in the 8th minute, putting home an unassisted goal. Sophomore
Drew Altieri (Voorheesville, N.Y.) doubled the advantage in the 29th minute off an assist from freshman
Anthony Rizzi (Cornwall, N.Y.).
Pagano tallied his second goal of the afternoon in the 48th minute, taking a pass from freshman
Brandon Mincher (Bayport, N.Y.). Senior
Francesco Marando (Minisink, N.Y.) joined the party in the 72nd minute, netting a pass from sophomore
Kevin Ryan (Bay Shore, N.Y.).
Rizzi would be involved on the next three goals for the Knights, tallying a pair of unassisted goals in the 75th minute and the 86th minute. He would then set up senior
Matt Glaviano (Carmel, N.Y.) in the 88th minute on the seventh goal of the day for the Mount.
Freshman goalkeepers Matthew Darling (Staatsburg, N.Y.),
Ron Bonilla (White Plains, N.Y.), and freshman
Christopher Chieffo (Waterbury, Conn.) combined on the shutout. Bonilla and Chieffo each made three saves.
The final contest of the season for the Knights has been postponed for Monday evening, but a game will be rescheduled at some point during the week.
