NEWBURGH, NY – Mount Saint Mary College senior
Lauren Dorsa (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) broke a school record on Tuesday evening, scoring seven goals during a 9-0 defeat of the College of Mount Saint Vincent. The previous record of six was set in 2005 by Ashley Miller against Maritime.
Dorsa opened the scoring in the 14th minute, heading home a cross from sophomore
Erin McKeon (Watertown, Conn.). The senior then scored four goals in a span of five minutes at the beginning of the second half. At 48:06, she put home a cross from sophomore
Alexi Pascale (Monroe, N.Y.). She tallied again at 48:44, this time one-timing a shot on a feed from senior
Danielle Bucco (Washingtonville, N.Y.). Dorsa scored an unassisted goal at 49:39 and then netted another feed from McKeon for her fifth goal of the night.
In the 68th minute, a nice pass up the middle from Bucco put Dorsa all alone with the keeper and she found the back of the net once again. For the record breaker, freshman
Brittany Shamro (Pine Bush, N.Y.) set up the senior on a two-on-one in the 74th minute.
Three goalkeepers combined on the shutout for the Blue Knights. Mount Saint Vincent goalkeeper Michelle Miller (Chester, Pa.) played admirably for the Dolphins, making 10 saves.
Mount Saint Mary hosts first place Farmingdale State College on Friday, October 9. The game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Kaplan Field.
