HACKETTSTOWN, NJ – Led by a pair of goals from Chris Hill (Flanders, N.J.), Centenary College defeated Mount Saint Mary College, 5-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday. The Cyclones improved to 4-2-1 overall while the Blue Knights dropped to 1-4.
In the first half, Centenary struck just four minutes in when Andrew Pinnella (Brielle, N.J.) scored on a volley following a throw from Ryan Bilello (West Hempstead, N.Y.). The score remained the same until the last four minutes of the half, when Luis Villacis (Newark, N.J.) connected on a cross from Matthew Winkler (Great Meadows, N.J.) to end the half with Centenary leading, 2-0.
The second half started out even until Hill subbed in, and was able to find the net off a bounced around ball served from a corner kick. Hill added another off of a pass from Bilello near the top of the box, making the score Cyclones 4, Blue Knights 0. The Cyclones got their 5th goal when Alex Walters (Sciota, Pa.) scored off a penalty kick.
Hill's goals were his 5th and 6th of the season, in which he still currently leads the team. Also playing a solid game for Centenary was goalie Jason Rogers (Washington, N.J.) who made six saves, and recorded his first career shutout. For the Blue Knights, keepers
Paul Aries (Nashua, N.H.) and
Pat McGinnis (Binghamton, N.Y.) combined for six saves.
