Skylar Kellam enters her first season as the head coach of the Knights women's volleyball program. Kellam, a standout player at Western Connecticut State University (Westconn), boasts an illustrious collegiate career where she excelled as a libero/defensive specialist. Finishing her tenure at Westconn with 844 digs and ranking 3rd in program history in service aces with 176, Kellam demonstrated not only exceptional skill but also a deep understanding of the game.
She graduated from Westconn in May 2021 with a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies, focusing on communication and community health. After completing her bachelor's degree, she returned to Westconn for a 5th year of eligibility and completed her master's degree in business administration.  Kellam's academic background complements her practical experience in volleyball. She transitioned seamlessly into coaching, starting her career at Downstate Volleyball Club in 2021, where she quickly rose to head coach of the club's regional teams and served as the assistant coach for their national teams. Her efforts at the junior level have led to her recognition from her club and was recognized with a "Rising Star Coaches Award' at the end of the 2024 club season.
Kellam further honed her coaching skills at Pace University, where she played a pivotal role in revitalizing the women's volleyball program. Under her guidance, the team witnessed a remarkable turnaround, improving their record from 5-19 to 13-11 in her first season. Her coaching philosophy, centered on helping student-athletes discover their passions both on and off the court, resonated deeply with the team, fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.

Skylar impressed the search committee with her vision and goals for the Knights Volleyball program, her proven ability to recruit and her commitment to developing student-athletes.  From being a former Division III student-athlete, to a respected club and collegiate coach, Skylar was the perfect choice to lead our team and we can’t wait for her to get started."
Residing in Fishkill, New York, Kellam is eager to bring her expertise and enthusiasm to Mount Saint Mary College, where she will continue to inspire and empower student-athletes to reach their full potential.
